Tuesday Class Group Work

MLK jr. Excerpts

Letter from a Birmingham Jail

I have a Dream

Nobel Peace Prize Acceptance Speech

Think about what we have learned about Martin Luther King jr. so far.

Refer back to the different documents of King's that we have studied, and pick out some specific parts of them that you and your group think best illustrates the ideal that King was working towards and speaking about.

Each person in the group should quickly pick out the one quote that they personally think best exemplifies King's goal for the nation.

Once each group member has chosen their quote, discuss each quote, and decide on the one that the group thinks is the best representation of King's beliefs and goals.

Once you have chosen the one quote for the group, have someone from the group write it up on the board.

We will then as a class, choose the one quote we all think best represents the goals of King's civil rights movement.

Once we have picked out our quote, we will think about everything we know about king, positives and negative and we will decide what King's legacy is.
